Changes to Vetassess assessment requirements for General Occupations

Click here for a list of those occupations subject to these changes.

Prior to 1 January 2010, Vetassess required applicants to hold a qualification, equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree or diploma depending on the nominated occupation. The qualification did not have to be related to the nominated occupation. In addition, Vetassess was not concerned with the applicants work experience.

From 1 January 2010, Vetassess requires applicants to hold a qualification which is assessed at the required educational level, in a highly relevant field of study to the nominated occupation. In addition to this, at least one year of employment completed at an appropriate level over the last five years in a field closely related to the nominated occupation is required for all nominated occupations. For some occupations, if the qualification/s has a shortfall in content relevance, either one or two years of additional such employment is required.
