The Distinguished Talent visa is for persons who wish to settle permanently in Australia and who have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in a profession, sport, the arts or academia and research.
Applicants should be eminent in the top echelons of their field and have a record of sustained achievement that is unlikely to diminish in the future. Their achievements should be considered as exceptional and outstanding in any country where the relevant field is practiced.
Applicants must be nominated by an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, an eligible New Zealand citizen or an Australian organisation. The nominator must have a national reputation relevant to field of achievement and must testify to the applicant’s record of achievement.
Regardless of whether the nominator is an individual or an Australian organisation, consultation with the relevant peak body is recommended.
